Want to Know More? This print titled, “The Chief” was originally created in 2009 with approximately 50 hours of “hands on” drawing time-over a 2 month period. I drew this special piece after seeing the exceptional one-man play, “The Chief” with my father. The performance, history and persona portrayed in this play were so moving that I felt I had to look a little further and create a tribute.
Through my own father’s love, respect and admiration for “The Chief” I was brought up to respect all things Rooney. My Father, like many other blue-collar Pittsburgher’s, held Mr. Rooney in very high regard; as a role model of sorts. He can truly be credited as the man who transformed Pittsburgh into the “City of Champions” and one who loved his family, community and fans.
The Chief’s accomplishments in the wonderful world of sports are forever unmatched, but it was his work and dedication outside the gridiron that compelled me to commemorate this great man. Thank you Mr. Rooney for building a foundation that will be shared for generations in our beloved city. Look close, do you see what I see?
